Who We Are
Four decades of standing beside the vulnerable
Morigaon Mahila Mehfil (MMM) was established in 1979 through the initiative of a group of women with the vision of strengthening civil society, addressing community needs, facilitating opportunities, providing life-saving services, and creating a better and safer place to live.
In 1980, with the encouragement, support, and initiative of Late Mofizuddin Ahmed, Late Ambia Khatun, and Late Nazimuddin Ahmed, the organization was formally registered as a non-governmental organization (NGO) under the name Morigaon Mahila Mehfil (MMM).
Over the past several decades, MMM has been working with vulnerable and marginalized communities across various sectors. Its areas of intervention include health, education, livelihood promotion, women’s empowerment, women’s rights and protection, vocational training, disaster risk reduction (DRR), rural housing and sanitation, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), family counselling, legal literacy and legal aid, capacity building and training of Anganwadi Workers and Helpers, disaster relief, emergency response and rehabilitation for flood-affected communities, child care and protection, and placement through adoption.
Through its long-standing presence and community-based approach, Morigaon Mahila Mehfil has built strong relationships with communities, government departments, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders. The organization continues to work towards empowering communities, protecting vulnerable groups, strengthening resilience, and creating sustainable opportunities for a dignified and better quality of life.
FOCUS AREA:
- Disaster Risk Reduction: Reduce the risk of Flood in most flood affected area of Morigaon District.
- Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH): Awareness on water born disease through various programme.
- Constructional work: Institutional building (High raised Hand Pump, Toilets and Platforms), Rural Housing etc.
- Women and Child Protection: Women empowerment, ensure women participations in all aspect, Care, protection and placement of children in need, Family Counseling, legal aid, awareness on legal rights, rehabilitative services to women.
- Education: Formal and Non formal Education.
- Health: Health Care services through various healths programme (Community Mental Health Programme).
- Livelihood: Alleviate poverty, sustainable livelihood.
- Disaster Response: Relief, Rehabilitation, Rescue in the disaster time.
- Social Mobilization: Support service to socially challenge person.

Our Journey
Milestones since 1979
1979
Morigaon Mahila Mehfil founded by a group of dedicated women in Morigaon, Assam.
1980
Registered under the Societies Registration Act, No-126 of 1980-81 (Act XXI of 1860).
1985
FCRA registration obtained — enabling the organisation to receive foreign contributions.
1992
Family Counselling Centre (SEWA) established in Morigaon District.
2012
Specialized Adoption Agency (SAA) launched for orphaned and abandoned children.
2020
Community Mental Health Programme begins across 191 villages with Azim Premji Foundation support.
2022
Flood response reaches 17,600+ households across Morigaon and Nagaon during Assam floods.
2023
Half-Way Home and Real Home established for persons with mental illness in need of shelter.
